The University of Missouri‐Kansas City, School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full time, tenure-eligible Associate Professor/Professor for the position of Chair, Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences. This is a full benefit-eligible position. 

 

The Oral and Craniofacial Sciences Department has a research emphasis with over 40 faculty, staff, and students and >$2M in annual research funding. Focus areas for current research include biomaterials, mineralized tissue biology, craniofacial development and clinical translational research. 

 

The department’s graduate programs include Masters and Interdisciplinary Ph.D. studies in Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, and there are numerous cross-disciplinary research and teaching activities. 

 

The Dental School is located in the Kansas City Health Sciences Precinct which include UMKC’s Medical School and the School of Health Sciences and Nursing, as well as University Health (Truman Hospital) and Children’s Mercy Hospital and Research Institute, the latter which houses the Genomic Medicine Center which is a 5-minute walk from the School of Dentistry. The Genomic Medicine Center is a nationally funded genomics facility that provides the full gamut of genomics services to meet both clinical and basic research needs, including those related to model organisms. 

 

The successful candidate will have exceptional administrative and organizational skills and a national reputation as a leader in academic dentistry and research. The individual chosen will be responsible for visionary leadership, management and stewardship of the department’s mission related to research, education, and service. We particularly welcome candidates with a strong background in clinical/translational research, a strong track record of funded research, interdisciplinary leadership skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

 

Applicants should hold a PhD and/or DDS/DMD.
